Impact of Bullying in Schools through December 2011: Forms of Bullying

This libguide will provide you with educational insights about bullying in schools, for educators and families. Included you will find ways in which students, educators and parents can become involved in the prevention of bullying in their community.

Different organizations look at bulling in different but similar ways. There are many ways to describe the types/forms of bullying. The types of bullying provided here is just a summary from one organization of all the forms/types of bulling.

Types of bullying

According to the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program website bullying can come in many forms such as;

1. Verbal bullying including derogatory comments and bad names.

2. Bullying through social exclusion or isolation.

3. Physical bullying such as hitting, kicking, shoving, and spitting.

4. Bullying through lies and false rumors.

5. Having money or other things taken or damaged by students who bully.

6. Being threatened or being forced to do things by students who bully.

7. Racial bullying.

8. Sexual bullying.

9. Cyber bullying (via cell phone or internet).
