This is a collection of tools and programs to help students with writing and reading texts. Many of these tools feature speech-to-text, suggestions for grammar, spelling, and tone, and offer help for dyslexic students. It will be constantly updated by the SERC library.
Co:Write Universal is a writing resource that helps with word prediction, flexible spelling, speech-to-text, topic dictionaries, text-to-speech. You can sign up for a free trial online. It works on Chrome Extension and iOS.

Clicker at Home helps with word prediction, word banks, access to clicking instead of typing. Clicker @ Home offers free access to schools due to the pandemic. It is available to download for most platforms. Clicker at Home has also pledged compliance with the CT Student Data Privacy law.
With Make Beliefs Comix you can create digital comics and read free e-books. It includes lots of support for ESOL and students with special needs. All features are free and it is available via its website. Make Beliefs Comix has also pledged compliance with the CT Student Data Privacy law.
Accessibyte Online is offering free access to its entire cloud platform of apps for blind, low vision, deaf and reading impaired students. Highly visual and fully audible typing tutor, games, flash cards and study apps are key elements of this tool. They offer a free 45 day trial and the program is available on most common platforms.
Speech Notes is a speech-to-text using a device microphone and works with dictation keyboard. It is available for free online but there is also a premium upgrade available. Speech Notes works on Chrome Extension and Android Apps.
