Educational Facilities Vulnerability/Hazard Assessment Checklist

Vulnerability assessment is the ongoing process through which school districts identify and evaluate potential risks and areas of weakness capable of adversely impacting the school system. As a result of varying characteristics of schools, assessments must be customized to fit the physical environment, student population, school culture, and resources available at each facility. This checklist walks school personnel through these characteristics, school policies and procedures, and the emergency operation plan to provide an overview of the facility vulnerabilities that need to be addressed in the prevention/mitigation phase of the school's emergency plan.
